Pajaro Valley Unified School District (PVUSD) Area 3 covers a diverse and vibrant part of northern Monterey County and southern Santa Cruz County, including the communities surrounding Hall District Elementary, Ohlone Elementary, Pajaro Middle School, Ceiba College Prep Academy, and Linscott Charter School. This area is characterized by a blend of urban and rural environments, deeply rooted in agricultural traditions, and a community-driven spirit that is reflective of its diverse population.

PVUSD Area 3 encompasses the communities of Pajaro and Las Lomas, located in the Royal Oaks area of North Monterey County. These areas are home to approximately 3,070 residents in Pajaro and 3,024 in Las Lomas. The population is predominantly of Mexican descent, with over 60% identifying with Indigenous or mixed-race backgrounds.

The area’s strong agricultural roots are evident, with many families engaged in strawberry and lettuce farming. Spanish is the dominant language spoken in these communities, with a significant number of residents being English Language Learners. Despite modest median household incomes, Pajaro and Las Lomas are vibrant, close-knit communities with deep cultural pride. They are characterized by strong family ties, rich cultural celebrations, and a deep sense of identity, supported by local schools and community events that reinforce the area’s social fabric.
