I'm in the minority on this board. A lot of what I've pushed for has been blocked — by the board majority, by the superintendent, or by the legal machinery deployed against dissenting trustees. That's the reality. I'm not stopping. Here is an honest account of where things stand.

    Voted YES on the February 2026 Transportation Plan that secured updates for Las Lomas routes.

    Voted YES — the January 2026 Resolution Condemning ICE passed 7-0.

    Passed unanimously February 2026.

    Approved March 2026 — honoring the full farmworker movement including Larry Itliong.

    Appointed December 2025 — now shaping what comes before the board.

Active Fights

  • Expanding Student Trustees from 1 to 3

    Bylaw 9150 already allows up to 3 student board members. Gabe is pushing for full implementation. Students deserve more than one voice.

  • Reducing Central Office Administrators

    Gabe voted NO on multiple cabinet contracts and has formally requested a staff pay breakdown to show how much is spent at the district office vs. school sites.

  • Supporting Teachers Through Layoffs

    Voted NO on Resolution #25-26-13 (certificated terminations) and Resolution #25-26-14 (classified reductions). Still fighting.

  • 4-Day School Week

    Still on Gabe's agenda. Has not yet advanced at the board level.

  • Lowering the Voting Age to 16

    Ad Hoc Committee established July 2025 with Trustees Carrasco and Turley. Work ongoing.
